Venezuela is home to a diverse range of rum producers and has played a significant role in boosting rum’s global popularity in recent years. While a few major brands have paved the way, they have also helped open doors for the smaller, emerging distilleries, leading to a steady increase in Venezuelan rum exports.
One of the country's most notable distilleries is Corporación Alcoholes del Caribe, better known by its abbreviation, C.A.C.D. This large-scale distillery is particularly renowned in Europe for selling rum in single barrels through select rum merchants. Additionally, C.A.C.D. supplies substantial quantities of rum to various brands, which are then bottled and sold domestically in Venezuela.
Venezuelan rum is celebrated for its deep, dark character, rich fruitiness, and natural sweetness. The country employs both batch and continuous distillation methods, sometimes keeping them separate and other times blending the two distillates to achieve unique flavor profiles.
